Are you Mary or Martha?

Luke 10:38-42 (The Message)

Mary and Martha 38-40As they continued their travel, Jesus entered a village. A woman by the name of Martha welcomed him and made him feel quite at home. She had a sister, Mary, who sat before the Master, hanging on every word he said. But Martha was pulled away by all she had to do in the kitchen. Later, she stepped in, interrupting them. "Master, don't you care that my sister has abandoned the kitchen to me? Tell her to lend me a hand."
41-42The Master said, "Martha, dear Martha, you're fussing far too much and getting yourself worked up over nothing. One thing only is essential, and Mary has chosen it—it's the main course, and won't be taken from her."

Too often, I find myself being Martha. I just need to slow down and worship more.

Our ladies bible study just finished "Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World." Quite possible one of the best books I've ever read.

I've highlighted, dog-eared, underlined, and written all over that book. I'll read it again this summer.

Sooooo good.

Yep, I want to be a Mary, but so often find myself being Martha.

Your post got me thinking so much, I blogged about it today.

Let's strive to be Mary's together, 'kay?

Oh, yeah. I struggle with this one. I get that Mary made the right choice. But I've always felt Martha got a bit of a bad rap. 13 men (Jesus and dicsiples) who've been travelling show up at your house... there is definitely stuff to do for them! It takes lots of deep breaths to try to be like Mary.

Cool post, my friend. Thanks for getting me thinking!

See you in a few days!!! Woo Hoo!!

Four years ago I was Martha. Today, I am thankfully more like Mary.
