Hook 'Em Horns

Just wanted to brag….My niece Caroline, sister’s younger daughter, just got news today she was accepted to Red McCombs Business School at UT!

Hook Em’!!

It is my understanding there are only a chosen few accepted.

I am so very proud of her, she works so very hard and spends most of her time on studies and it has paid off!

Monday Moments

As a "Soccer Mom" I thought I would share a few highlights.....
I can say this, IT WAS HOT IN OHIO THIS WEEKEND! Seriously, it was high 80's all weekend, even used my A/C!!

None of our 3 games were "winners" but the girls played well and the teams were "great Team Players!"

Just another Manic Monday

So I woke up this morning thinking "it's Monday and I have a lot to do this week."

I felt rather energized from Sunday, I got a pretty good nights sleep and I have my list of things to do; I am ready to face the day, coffee in hand!

Dressed and out the door at 8:25 (on time) to drop the girls at school, I head out for a day of accomplishing things. Wal-Mart, Michael's, Hobby Lobby....have Brownies tomorrow, need supplies. Then to the school for shelving books (volunteer each Monday) and back by the house to change out laundry before the grocery. The plan was in place.....

Got to Wal-Mart, traffic was backed up due to a wreck on the highway where a police officer was hit. Once there, I spent time looking for things they did not have, paid for what I found and left...rain and traffic back to the house, switched laundry and off to the school. Got there and "TESTING-DO NOT ENTER was on the door. Turned around to head to Michael's and Hobby Lobby.....got the call from the school nurse....Campbell has a stomach ache and feels like she will be sick....OMG!

Turned around and headed back to school. Found her with the nurse "playing the part" of a sick child, no fever and half a smile on her face. (I am on to her right away) After a short conversation in the car, come to find out testing was this morning and she was nervous. UGH!

After Campbell's Goldfish Noodle with Meatballs, she is now home sleeping. I forced that one. She wants to go to Indian Princesses tonight and I said "not if you do not sleep" and she is. I think the sleepover and two soccer games this weekend probably did her in. She likes her rest and her little body needs it.

So, the best laid plans and the to-do list sometimes do not mean a darn thing. Just hoping it is the testing and not a bug, for everyone's sake....But that list awaits and there are still lots of things to get done! We will see tomorrow how "that's working for me"!

Soccer Mom

NOT to be confused with a Hockey Mom by the way....I do however wear lipstick!

So, tomorrow begins what I swore I would never become. A Soccer Mom. But I must add the disclaimer, I DO NOT drive a mini-van. (not that there is anything wrong with that)
Anyway, tomorrow we start soccer games. For the past two weeks we have had 4 practices a week (except when the rain has cancelled). Tomorrow morning, we have a game at 9:00am and another at 12 noon.

We will gather a few minutes before for a couple "drills and warm-ups" and then Kipper and I will park in lawn chairs, with blankets if it is still cool (yes I live in Ohio and it was 38 this morning). We will yell names of girls we have no idea which ones they are because all the other parents are yelling at them. We will scream DE-FENCE and RUN at the top of our lungs. And will give High Fives to all the other parents when they score! We'll holler at Campbell the PINK PUMA and Addison a BLUE COWGIRL(The Cowboys is the school mascot). And at the end of the game, we will make a PARENT BRIDGE with our arms for all the girls to run through.

Ok, so do I sound like I know what I am doing? Well, I have been reading up on all this to get it just right!
So, think of me the next 8 Saturday mornings as you sleep in, warm and cozy, watching morning cartoons or reading the paper in bed. I will be living the Soccer Mom life!
Happy Weekend all!

Thankful Thursday

Yesterday I received from my friend at Quirky Mess an amazing video. It is a You-Tube video of a woman who has written a popular book (The Middle Place) speaking to a group of Women on how we will all "get through it together". The title is "Transcending: Words on Women and Strength by Kelly Corrigan".

On this Thursday, I reflect thankfully on all the women in my life who help me each and every day "get through it all". To you all, thank you and much love.

Enjoy this video, with a tissue at hand. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_4qwVLqt9Q

Cheers!

This is from an email from my sister Cindy.......

CHEERS! This is a
day to remember!!

Dearest Family,

Today is a day to lift your coffee mugs, wine glasses or just lift your heads to the heavens and say Cheers…Cheers in honor of our beloved Grammy!! It seems hard to believe it has been a year since Grammy left us to join her loving husband, son parents, and all the family she loved so dearly. While she left us here on earth…it was her time to join the others…but she left us with so much….so many laughs and smiles and wonderful memories! I miss that smile…most of all I miss that unconditional LOVE! A love like no other!!

Do not be sad on this day…but feel the blessing of her love surround you…I know I feel it today and everyday!

Love to you all! Cindy Frances

News

Well I just wanted everyone to know that we are moving, yes again. Can you believe it? I can't.

I am trying to see through the tears.

After 2 moves in 6 months last year, I can't believe my husband had the nerve to lay this one on me. He promised. He said we would be in Ohio for the rest of his career.

Well, he returned from a conference with upper management and was told he was needed to move to LA. Yes, California. I am so pissed, scared and not even wanting to think about telling my children. They will flip.

We promised them too. We told them we would not move unless it was back to Texas. How will I even begin to tell them.

The position is a huge promotion and our salary package will be equal to almost twice what it is now, so that should cover the cost of living increase, but LA...are you kidding....no one ever wants to move to LA. Earthquakes.....UGH.

So please pray for us. We have to face our girls the next couple weeks and I have to plan a trip to see what we are in for. Please help me God.

Or should I say forgive me God.
April Fools!
